Last month I had my second dose the of Pfizer vaccine.
I am in the 1B category – with a chronic illness, immunocompromised, and under 40. I wrote about my experience with the first dose here.

Before I had my second dose, everyone told me to prepare for the worst, fevers, aching, days off work. That actually happened before the first dose too, and I had to stop reading.
After the first dose, I had a few very minor side effects. I had a sore arm for about three days, and was really tired on the day I had the injection. I felt lucky compared to the many people who were unwell after their injection.
So I prepared to feel worse after the first injection, based on anecdotes.
My dermatologist said that my body would respond the way it responds, and not to give others’ experiences too much thought. I have had the flu shot without any issues, and also travel vaccinations. Remember travel?!
The second dose was an anti-climax. The arm pain was barely noticeable. I wasn’t tired like before. I didn’t feel sick. My temperature was fine. I had a little sniffly nose like hayfever, for a couple of mornings. That was it.
I acknowledge that I’ve had a good experience- and not everyone has been. I also know many people can’t get vaccinated, and so it’s up to the rest of the community to help keep everyone safe.
if you can get vaccinated, please do. Thank you.
More details on Australia wide vaccine availability are here. Don’t forget to talk to your doctor to see what they recommend, and to get a medical certificate to prove eligibility.
